Our History

Forty Years Strong! H & W Farms is a family business and partnership established in 1970 by Clayton Heffron and his cousin Raymond Wittenbach. In 1978, Clayton's son-in-law, George Wright, joined the partnership, and in 1981 Clayton's son, Timothy Heffron, also became a partner. Clayton and Raymond have since retired, and the company is now directed and managed by George and Timothy.

In addition, H & W opened a year-round farm market in 2000, selling fresh fruit and Michigan products.  It is managed by Clayton's daughter, Sheila Wright.

About seventy-five percent of the produce we sell is grown on the nearly 1,000 acres of farm land in Kent County's Grattan Township. H & W processes approximately one million pounds of red tart cherries and fresh packs about two hundred thousand bushels of apples annually. Conventional agricultural practices are used and adhere to all state and federal regulations. The cherry processing plant is USDA inspected and the fresh apple packing line is third party certified. H & W Farms has succeeded by showing an unwavering attention to detail from the orchard to the final product.

The farm is located 5 miles West of Belding, MI on M44 (Belding Road).
